The Michigan Association of Airport Executives has named Gerald R. Ford International Airport's Aeronautics Director, Jim Koslosky, "Airport Manager of the Year" for 2007.

James A. Koslosky is the Aeronautics Executive Director for Kent County, Michigan. He is responsible as chief executive officer for the overall administration, financing, operations, maintenance, and development of the Gerald R. Ford International Airport. He is an Accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E.) of the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE). In addition, he holds a commercial pilot's license with instrument and multi-engine ratings.

Prior to assuming his present duties in March 1991, he was Executive Director of Airports for five years with the Fort Wayne - Allen County Airport Authority; an independent public agency charged with the oversight of two regional airports in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

From 1981 - 1986, he was Operations Manager for the Dane County Regional Airport, Madison, Wisconsin; and from 1976 - 1981, he was employed as a planning analyst with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation - Bureau of Aeronautics.

Mr. Koslosky served four years in the United States Air Force where he trained and performed the duties of an Air Traffic Control Specialist working both Control Tower and Radar Approach Control (TRACON) facilities.

A graduate of the University of North Dakota, he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business and Public Administration majoring in Airport Administration. He also completed post-graduate studies at the University of Wisconsin specializing in Transport Policy.

Mr. Koslosky has been the recipient of the following airport industry awards and recognitions:  Wisconsin Airport Management Association Presidents Award; Wisconsin Airport Management Association Achievement Award; Michigan Aeronautics Commission Award of Excellence; Michigan Association of Airport Executives Presidents Awards (2); Michigan Association of Airport Executives Airport Manager of the Year (2007); and American Association of Airport Executives Distinguished Service Award (DSA).

Current professional affiliations include: Past National Chairman, American Association of Airport Executives; Board of Directors, International Association of Airport Executives; Official Representative, Airports Council International; Member, Grand Valley Metro Council Transportation Policy Committee; Executive Member, Michigan Association of Airport Executives; Past Chairman and Board Member, Grand Rapids/Kent County Convention and Visitors Bureau; Member, Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce Regional Issues and Public Policy Committees; and Member, Economic Club of Grand Rapids.
