ROOM RENTALS - Why rent a meeting room at the airport?

You've probably been meeting people at the airport for years. But you may not have realized it's an excellent place for meetings, period!

The choice of available rooms varies almost as much as the ways you could use them. Your company's human resources department might reserve one of our smaller rooms to interview job candidates (local or flown in). A law firm might also find them ideal for conducting depositions efficiently when one or more of the parties involved are from out of town.

Does your West Michigan company bring personnel from other offices to Grand Rapids for meetings? One of our larger rooms might be a convenient and time-saving alternative to transporting groups of people to a location far from the airport. Clubs, organizations, and families might also find our rental rooms desirable for extra privacy and convenience.

Perhaps you need to coordinate arrivals and departures for a large group or convention. Our special events counter may be just what you’re looking for. Conveniently located near other ground transportation options in the east ticketing wing, the special events counter provides you with a dedicated, professional area to stage your meeters and greeters. Along with the space, rental of the special events counter will also allow you to provide signage in the terminal to direct your guests accordingly.

To reserve a room, you may complete the rental agreement and fax it to 616-233-6025 or email it. Call 616-233-6044 for assistance or additional information. Room rental fees may be paid by cash, check, or credit card at the Airport Authority Administrative office. All fees must be paid in advance of the reserved date and time.

Please note: We recommend making reservations 48 hours in advance; and the reservation is not guaranteed until you receive confirmation from an authorized Airport Authority representative.

Charging Stations

Charging stations are available in the airline gate areas. Power is available via AC and USB ports.

Currency Exchange

There is not a currency exchange service located at the airport. We recommend that you contact your personal bank to inquire about this service. Many banks require a 3-7 day lead time to convert currency so plan ahead and be prepared.

Shoe Shine

Put your best foot forward and treat yourself to a shine at Cyndee's Shoe Shine Service, located in the passenger terminal main hall next to Starbucks. Need to reach her? You can call 616.893.3152.

Passengers with physical disabilities requiring special arrangements are advised to contact their airline in advance of their flight to discuss their specific needs.

Assistance Animals

Guide dogs and other assistance animals are welcome in all public areas of the passenger terminal building. Please be advised that assistance animals are required to be screened when entering the sterile area of the terminal. For more information on the screening of assistance animals, please see the TSA website pages dedicated to this subject.

In compliance with the U.S. Department of Transportation Air Carrier Access Act Rule, the airport provides an animal relief area for service animals that accompany passengers at the airport. This wheelchair-accessible area is located at the west end of the terminal curb front and provides Mutt Mitts, trash receptacles, and benches. GFIA customers with pets are free to access the designated Animal Relief Area as well.

Handicap parking is available in all airport parking lots. Complimentary airport parking shuttles, which service the economy parking lot, are wheelchair lift equipped. For those patrons parking in the garage, elevators are available to the skybridge both in the garage and in the passenger terminal facility.

T-Coil Loop Paging System

Our paging system is available to patrons who use T-Coil compatible assistive hearing devices in the main terminal Grand Hall and on both Concourse A & B. Not familiar with the T-Coil compatible hearing loop system technology? Here is a great video that explains it! Not sure if your hearing aid supports T-Coil technology? Check with your audiologist. We are pleased to be able to offer this technology to improve the travel experience for our patrons with a hearing loss.

TDD Telephone Devices

TDD hearing impaired telephone devices are available in Concourses A and B and pre-security at the Ground Transportation Center.

Wheelchair Assistance

The airport has wheelchairs available, and airline personnel will be happy to assist passengers with boarding and exiting the aircraft. It is best to arrange for wheelchair assistance when booking your flight. However, to request wheelchair assistance when you arrive at the airport, you can go to your airline's ticket counter or to the Visitor Information Desk in the baggage claim area, or you can request a page for a skycap and wheelchair assistance from a curb front security officer.

An elevator is available on the north side of the main hall for those who would like to visit the observation deck on our mezzanine level or those visiting the Airport Authority offices. PLEASE NOTE! Our observation area is currently closed for construction. It is scheduled to reopen in Summer 2017.
